Data Collection

This page describes what data Nekotopia collects about your usage of the Torus network.

What We Collect

InfrastructureConnection Metrics

We collect the following metrics from our network infrastructure:

Router Metrics (via MKTXP)

Metric CategoryData Data PointsPurpose Retention
InterfaceConnection Statisticsstatus TX/RXKnow bytes,when packets,you're errors, dropsonline 30 days
WireGuardBandwidth Peersusage HandshakeEnforce time, tier transferlimits, stats per peerbilling 30 days
SystemLast Resourceshandshake time CPU, memory, disk, temperature30 days
Firewall CountersRule hit counts,Monitor connection tracking30 days
Routing TablesBGP/OSPF state, route counts30 days
IP ConnectionsActive connection count, protocol breakdownhealth 30 days

Host

Traffic MetricsMetadata

(via

We Nodecollect Exporter)aggregate traffic statistics for capacity planning:

Metric CategoryData Data PointsPurpose
CPUTotal bytes transferred Utilisation,Capacity load average, per-core statsplanning
MemoryProtocol distribution Used,Network available, cached, swapoptimisation
DiskPeak usage times I/OInfrastructure operations, latency, space utilisation
NetworkInterface throughput, errors, TCP connections
SystemUptime, kernel version, process countsscaling

Container

Important: MetricsWe (viado cAdvisor)

NOT inspect packet contents. All traffic through the Torus is encrypted end-to-end using WireGuard. We see encrypted blobs, not what you're sending or receiving.

What We Don't Collect

  • Traffic contents — Your data is encrypted; we cannot read it
  • Browsing history — We don't run a DNS logging proxy
  • Application data — What you run over the VPN is your business

Traffic Flow Analysis

NetFlow v9 data is exported from our core router and collected by pmacct for deep traffic analysis:

Data Retention

  • Operational metrics: 30 days
  • Account information: Duration of account + 30 days after deletion
  • Logs: Rolling 30-day window
