Private Intranet
The Torus runs over your existing network using encrypted tunnels. All members could connect using the shared mesh or even create private networks, allowing access only to specific members or groups.
What you need to know is you are not on the public internet. You need to feel some level of security if you are sharing access to your retro gear with other people. The fact is, old equipment is unpatched, unsupported and open to abuse with myriad vulnerabilities. We can't protect you from those issues; we can only offer a mutually respectful hub with (hopefully) like-minded individuals who will appreciate access to your content.
Accessing with a Basic account gives you everything you need to stand up your Sun Netra web server and start sharing your shell accounts or web content. You'll receive a private IP address that remains yours for as long as your account is active. There is a private DNS service where you can register your FQDN (e.g., netra99.ring.nekotopia.io) and list your stuff on the Media and Community pages.
There are no promises that we can protect you from network-borne attacks or data losses. However, abuses can be shared in the Forum (when it's online) and can be reported to the moderators. The platform should self-regulate abusers and non-conformists. We will do our best to moderate content and abusive behaviour to support you.
