Notes: GL.iNet devices are popular in the tiny Mango (GL-MT300N, ~$30) all have WireGuard bakedcommunity in.for Verytheir easy setup. The trade-off isTrade-off: they're designed more for travel/prosumer devices,use notthan as powerhouse home routers.

Alternative Platforms

If you prefer running WireGuard on general-purpose hardware:

  • Raspberry Pi — Perfect for a dedicated VPN gateway (~$35-75)
  • Old PC with pfSense/OPNsense — Full-featured firewall with WireGuard
  • OpenWrt device — Any supported router can run WireGuard

Tip: If you're unsure, stick with a MikroTik hEX. It's what we use and support best.
